The Royal Irish Yacht Club has different categories of Membership to suit sailors and non-sailors alike.

As a members’ club, RIYC has always operated a ballot system whereby all Ordinary, Overseas and Country members are elected to the Club by the votes of the existing membership in a secret ballot. This universal exercise of franchise enables every ordinary member to have a say in who joins the Club and has, since our foundation, resulted in a cohesive and friendly Club with members from a wide range of backgrounds and interests who enjoy each other’s company.

It also means that once a new member has been elected, he/she enters the Club in the knowledge that he/she has been welcomed by the existing members, and not just by a vetting Committee, and may enjoy the Club with confidence. This aspect of the Club is often remarked upon and commended by new members.
